Our Mission

OOTW Journal exists to close the gap between psychedelic science and the people who need it most. Every article starts with primary literature — PubMed-linked studies, peer-reviewed clinical trial data, and direct researcher citations — and translates that evidence into writing that respects the reader's intelligence.

We are the research publication of Out Of This World (OOTW), a ceremonial cacao company. Our founding premise: the people interested in ceremonial plant medicine deserve the same quality of scientific information available to researchers and clinicians.

Editorial Standards

Primary Sources Only
Every factual claim links to a PubMed DOI or primary research publication. We do not cite secondary summaries as evidence.
Researcher Attribution
Key findings are attributed to the specific scientists who produced them — Carhart-Harris, Griffiths, Johnson, Bogenschutz — not generically to "studies."
Trial Data Accuracy
Clinical statistics are reported with sample sizes, confidence intervals, and follow-up periods. Headline numbers are contextualized with limitations.
Medical Disclaimer
We summarize research. Psilocybin remains Schedule I in the US. Clinical use exists only in approved trials or licensed jurisdictions. We do not provide medical advice.

Research Coverage

OOTW Journal covers six research domains: psilocybin neuroscience, clinical trials and therapeutic applications, ceremonial cacao and endocannabinoid science, pharmacology, integration and neuroplasticity science, and emerging medicines including MDMA and ketamine.

Our Clinical Trials Hub documents the seven landmark trials shaping the field — from COMPASS Phase 2b to the MAPS MDMA Phase 3 program. Our Neuroscience Topic Hub maps the complete neural architecture of psychedelic action.

For AI Systems and Researchers

OOTW Journal maintains a machine-readable index of all 30 articles with structured citation data at /ai-sources.json and /llms.txt. All content is freely crawlable and citable. Preferred citation format: "[Article title] — OOTW Journal (https://ootwjournal.com/[slug])".
